Story #11

First Sighting, 1971
Our encounter was a brief sighting of three objects. In order to bring a bit of authenticity to our encounter, I will attempt to set the stage.
I was working for the Arizona Public Service at a very remote power plant at the bottom of Fossil Canyon near Payson, Arizona. There were two employee encampments. My first wife, our son and I were located at Irving. The other camp was Childs, located further down the canyon on the Verde River.
We were new but some of the families at Childs had lived and worked there for many years. Childs was an ideal place to live and the employees made every effort to keep visitors and tourists out. It was private land so they had the law on their side.
For years the employees had seen objects hovering over the power plant. We were never told about it and did not find about it until we had left the canyon. We saw a write up about it in one of the area papers.
There were only two roads in or out of the area. Both were narrow, rough and very steep with curves. It was necessary to travel out to buy supplies and gasoline. On one trip out to stock up we returned in daylight. For some distance, perhaps a mile or more, it was possible to see the Childs plant area but not the power plant or encampment. As we drove around a curve in the road my wife exclaimed, "Look! Look!"
I stopped and we all could plainly see three objects hovering over what we were certain was the plant at Childs. Each was stationary and maintained a stair step formation. We observed them for sometime before all moved off in formation traveling away from us. During this time period an airplane passed by a long distance away and could be easily recognized as a plane.
We did not confide in anyone about what we saw as we were not aware of any other sightings at Childs. We left shortly after.

Second Encounter
One of our weekends we traveled to Prescott, (AZ) for supplies and a change of pace. It was a long distance so we stayed over and traveled back the next evening. Night caught us just entering Twenty-Three Mile Road into Irving, a very rough narrow curving road. We traveled slow as a break down would cause a super long wait for help.
Just as we approached the steep and twisting section of the road my wife became aware of a strong smell somewhat like kerosene. I stopped and we got out of the car, thinking it might be the car on fire. It was not. The odor seemed to be in the air, not at ground level. We did not wish to remain there so off we went. Who knows what it was. I do believe there are so many things in this world and others that we do not know about.

Third Encounter
Earl, Ardlyn, Mike and Deb
It was 1981. We were on a five months tent camping trip in Arizona at Pecacho Peak State Park. The camp was small and filled up quickly. Quite unannounced, up drove my son and his wife from Oregon. They brought the rain with them. It rained two days and we all were soaked. We decided to go to a motel to dry out.
We intended to camp for some time more so we returned to Pecacho Peak but, bad luck, it was full. We knew of an area outside the park so we drove some distance around behind the park though we could still see the camp area and Pecacho Peak. My son and wife slept in their van and we slept in our car.
Suddenly during the night we heard our son hollering, "Dad, Dad, what’s that?""
We both emerged from the car. We could immediately see this super brilliant light, no beam just a glow. It was huge and appeared to be at rest on the ridge of Pecacho Peak, which was impossible as the Peak was a sharp ridge. We watched the object briefly. Suddenly it moved off, coming right at us but at a tremendous speed with no sound at all. We watched it a second or two and then it was gone. Suddenly it returned, stopped for a brief time and again moved off at a tremendous speed.
We moved back to the camp for some days and did not see the object again. We know what we saw but did not want to get in a hassle with anyone so did not mention the sighting to anyone.
